- "If you start to take stock of all that remains pending you realize the serious problem we have and to what extent the Ministry, before the PP and now with the PSOE, despises the interests of Cartagena, nor have the steps been deleted At a dangerous level, the project to extend the line to Cabo de Palos is not drafted, nor are basic cleaning and maintenance tasks undertaken in the area around the track, and now, faults and delays multiply affecting the passengers ", laments the spokesman of the orange formation in Cartagena, Manuel Padín
Cartagena, Monday, August 6.
Ciudadanos has asked for explanations in Congress about the malfunctions and delays suffered by the trains of the Narrow Track Railroad (FEVE) on the Cartagena-Los Nietos line.
The national deputies of Citizens, Miguel Garaulet and José Luis Martínez, have registered a battery of questions to know if the Government of Spain is aware of the evident lack of maintenance of the line, and to request a balance of faults and delays exceeding 15 minutes you have had every month since 2012 to date.
The orange training will also ask about the investment plans and the measures that the central government will implement to avoid, as far as possible, the malfunctioning of the signaling and what short and medium term objectives have been set for the design of the extension of the line to Cabo de Palos, as requested by the Plenary of Cartagena and the Regional Assembly.
Breakdowns and delays occur
The last fault in the FEVE took place yesterday, as reported by various local media, and affected dozens of passengers for more than an hour.
The train stopped at the height of the Esperanza station due to the break in a pipe at noon and without air conditioning to cope with the intense heat.
In addition, more than a hundred travelers of FEVE trains suffered delays of about half an hour at the end of July when they returned from Los Nietos.
As reported by workers of the company itself, the ruling was attributable to the line and not to trains, which were renewed just six years ago.
Citizens will also transfer to the Ministry of Public Works the content of the citizen protests that took place on June 14 in which the FEVE delegation in Cartagena was recriminated and to Adif the lack of maintenance of the tracks, the prevailing dirt in the railway corridor ( full of garbage and rats) and the risks in the pedestrian crossing that connects the neighborhood of Los Mateos with the Sector Station.
The spokesman for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, thanked his Parliamentary Group in Congress for the work it is doing to improve the local railway lines, "if you start to take stock of everything that is left you realize the serious problem we have and to what extent the Ministry, before with the PP and now with the PSOE, despises the interests of Cartagena, nor have the dangerous level steps been eliminated, nor is the project for the extension of the line to Cabo de Palos, nor the basic tasks of cleaning and maintenance are undertaken in the environment of the road, and now, the breakdowns and delays multiply affecting the passengers ".
"The situation is getting worse, and we can not distinguish between the inaction of the PP and the PSOE," laments Padín.
