The Autonomous Community, through the Murciano Institute of Social Action, allocates 499,681 euros to finance up to 26 places in the residence of older people The Marines of Cartagena.
Of these, five have been hired in the month of July.
The Los Marines de Cartagena residence is privately owned and managed by a cooperative. The building, which was once a country house, has been renovated and is surrounded by vegetation. It also has a patio where the elderly usually carry out activities of active aging
The Minister of Family and Equality of Opportunities, Violante Tomás, visited this center today and referred to the 60 new places of residential care and day center for the elderly that the regional government has created in the municipality.
"The attention to these people is one of our priorities, so we invested more than 7.6 million euros to serve 800 senior citizens in Cartagena, day centers and residences," he specified.
More than 22,000 dependent elderly people are served by the regional government between financial aid and services.
The Department of Family and Equal Opportunities is committed to the care of the elderly with the expansion of residential and day care centers.
