One more summer, almost a dozen Saharawi children enjoy the summer period in Cartagena.
Councilor of the area of ​​Heritage and Tourism, Carmen Martín, has received the children who are hosted for two months by families of the municipality.
During the reception, Martín thanked the Saharawi Sonrisas Association for the implementation of the 'Holidays in Peace' program, and the predisposition of the host families that allows these children to spend the summer period in Cartagena.
In the same way, the mayor of Patrimonio, has pointed out the importance of the development of these initiatives for the promotion of interculturality and solidarity in the municipality.
Thus, during the two months of stay of these children, activities such as cultural visits or excursions to the beach are scheduled, in addition to various medical check-ups that allow to check the health status of the children.
The Region of Murcia hosts this year more than 75 children from the Sahara, of which 6 have settled in Cartagena.
