This Friday, the 2nd Edition of the Innovative Project "ConVive en tu Barrio: Espacio de Encuentro", which culminated with the aesthetic rehabilitation of Carlos III, closed on the basketball court of Carlos III's urban sports park, next to the skate track. this public space usually frequented by young people.
A representative sector of the social entities, of the public administrations and neighbors of the Barrios de Casco Histórico and Sector Estación de Cartagena, closed the programming of the innovative project that has developed activities to improve and use public spaces as places of encounter and neighborhood cohabitation.
Workshops of urban art, outings of groups of boys and girls, adolescents and young people to public spaces, games on the street, and as a colophon, a mural graffiti on the park's basketball court, have formed a program of community activities aimed at the neighbors during this month of July.
"ConVive en tu Barrio: Espacio de Encuentro" was held as part of the Open Summer School in which the Department of Social Services has collaborated, and with the participation of the Intercultural Center of the Casco, the Municipal Drug Plan, the Department of Education, the Implica2 Program of the Department of Youth, the Agency for Local Development and Employment - ADLE, the Casco Antiguo Health Center of Health Area II of the Murcian Health Service, the Polytechnic University of Cartagena-UPCT, the Regional Museum of Modern Art - MURAM-, Parroquia y Cáritas of the San Diego Social Center, the School Patronato Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, the Huertecica Collective, the AA.VV.
Sector Station, Residence and Day Center Orpea, the Diabetic Society of Cartagena-SODICAR, Isen Vocational Training, Rascasa Association, ASTUS Association and Cepaim Foundation, as well as neighbors of the neighborhoods of Casco Histórico and Sector Estación.
Around twenty institutions have worked together to move towards a responsible, diverse and committed neighborhood model with its neighbors, with total respect for cultural diversity.
The innovative project "ConVive en tu Barrio: Espacio de Encuentro" and the Open Summer School are part of the community process promoted by the City of Cartagena, the Cepaim Foundation and the "la Caixa" Foundation for four years.
The participation of more than 250 people in this meeting, shows the progress of this intercultural community process in the neighborhood of the Historic Quarter and Sector Station, launched in this territory in July 2014.
The ICI Project in Historic Area and Sector Station of Cartagena
In Cartagena, the Obra Social "la Caixa" has been developing the ICI Project since 2014, together with the City Council and the Cepaim Foundation social entity, in the neighborhoods of the Historic District and the Sector Station, where work is being carried out to promote social cohesion and intercultural dialogue.
In Historic District and Sector Station, priority is given to the diversity of citizens.
It is estimated that more than 7,000 people have participated in the various actions promoted by the ICI Project.
