The Murcians Almudena García, of the Fondista Alcantarilla, and Iván Hernández, of the Mobel Automenor, won the tenth edition of the Cross of Cabo de Palos, which had the participation of almost 1,200 runners, was organized by the Club Atlestismo La Manga, in collaboration with the City Councils of Cartagena and San Javier, the UPCT and the Athletics Federation of the Region, among others.
The test, which is integrated into the Running Challenge circuit, along its six kilometers of route traversed the most attractive points of this coastal town, with exit and finish in the Paseo del Puerto.
The athlete of Sangonera La Verde Iván Hernández, with a record of 21:01, won the victory in front of the young Cartagena Zacarías Iglesias, of the Rajaos Runners Alcantarilla and winner in the junior category.
Third was José Carlos Caparrós, local police of La Union and former soccer player.
For its part, the Murcia Almudena García Victorio was the female winner (25:59).
The veteran Mercedes Merino, from Mobel Automenor, finished second with 26:17, while the triathlete Cristina Moreno Robles, from Bitec Tri Impulso, finished third.
The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, gave the start at this important sporting event and together with the Councilor for Tourism, Carmen Martín, and the president of La Manga Athletics Club, Martín Fuentes, encouraged the runners and handed over the trophies to the winners of the different categories that disputed the test.
The appointment returned to have a solidary character, since the benefits will be destined to several NGO's, as it has happened in its previous editions, in which it has already distributed more than 41,000 euros.
It is a classic sporting event that helps to promote the tourist image of Cartagena, through sports and physical activity.
