La Mar de Músicas began its twenty-fourth edition this Friday with the performance of Rubén Blades, in a concert framed in the tour he is making to say goodbye to his salsa repertoire.
In addition, during the weekend, Cartagena hosted the performances of the English 'Morcheeba' and the acclaimed 'Texas', Scottish group whose tickets sold out weeks ago.
The Panamanian artist once again demonstrated on stage that he is one of the great Latin American references in terms of music and social letters.
With a dedicated audience that filled the Torres Park Auditorium, Blades reviewed his extensive repertoire accompanied by Roberto Delgado Salsa Big Band.
The concert was witnessed by the Minister of Culture, José Guirao, on his first official visit to the Region of Murcia, and in which the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, was accompanied;
the delegate of the Government, Diego Conesa;
the mayor of Culture, David Martínez and the Minister of Tourism and Culture, Miriam Guardiola.
Blades left for the end the most anticipated moment of the night and is that, if he fulfills his announcement that this tour is the last with salsa repertoire, Cartagena witnessed the last performance of 'Pedro Navaja'.
After the Rubén Blades concert, the attention changed to the Arab Castle where the Brazilian Liniker performed accompanied by his Caramelows, which closed the opening day of a festival that has opened the concerts of the New Yorkers Banda Magna and the Venezuelan Betsayda Machado.
SECOND DAY OF THE FESTIVAL
On Saturday, July 21, La Mar de Músicas continued its programming with the performance of the English group Morcheeba.
At around eleven o'clock in the evening one of the most anticipated performances of the second day of the festival began, Morcheeba began his tour of Spain in Cartagena.
The British band of 'trip hop', composed by Skye Edwards and Ross Godfrey, presented at the Torres Park Auditorium their new album, 'Blaze away'.
With the towns on the verge of hanging the "sold out", the English duo interpreted 'Otherwise', 'Part of the Process', 'Blood Like Lemonade', 'Rome Was not Built in a Day' or a celebrated version of the eternal 'Let's Dance' of the eternal Bowie, which marked the high points of the night.
Another one of the stellar performances of the night took place in the Patio del Antiguo CIM - now the School of Business Sciences of Cartagena - with the American band 'Cory Henry & The Funk Apostles' that arrived with the intention of realizing its full potential and he got it based on rythm and blues, rock, jazz, gospel, soul and, of course, funk.
On this day the rhythms of the Danish 'Whomadewho' and the Colombian Elkin Robinson sang in Cartagena the only concert in Spain to present their new work, 'Sun a Shine'.
Saturday night closed with the performance of the Murcian DJ Carrie Palmer, in charge of replacing at the last minute the Congolese KOKOKO !, who had to suspend their concert at the Arab Castle due to problems with their flight.
TEXAS EXCEEDED ALL EXPECTATIONS
Texas was placed on the idyllic stage of the Parque Torres Auditorium with a new record under his arm: 'Jump on Board'.
Although the Scottish band led by Sharleen Spiteri played their new songs, such as 'Let's Work It Out' or 'Tell That Girl', the development of the match was marked by the past of the formation of Glasgow, which managed to exceed all the expectations of the huge number public that filled the Torres Park Auditorium, and whose tickets sold out weeks ago.
That is why the closed ovations were for songs like 'Thrill Has Gone', 'Inner Smile' or So Called Friend ', the latter was attended on stage by a local fan, Paco, who was able to fulfill his dream and share letters and music with their idols, thanks to the invitation of Spiteri.
On the other hand, the Danes 'Afenginn' opened the day with an absolute instrumental direct, which was followed by the performance, in the Patio del Antiguo CIM, of 'Songhoy Blues'.
