The councilor of the MC Cartagena municipal group, María José Soler, has announced the will of her training to seek the support of the rest of the Corporation for the local government to propose to the Ministry of Health of CARM the establishment of a collaboration agreement by that the municipality of Cartagena will be incorporated, during the next school year, into the 'Activa Familias' program.
It is an initiative whose objective is to intervene on the life habits of under active children, overweight or obese.
For this, families are involved in the development of healthy habits.
The mayor has stressed the importance of joining a project that "last year was developed in ten municipalities in the region, some of them from our region, and offers a transcendental attention to children with sedentary habits and showing signs of overweight or obesity".
'Activa Families' is aimed at children between 6 and 11 years of age with a protocol.
Children are referred to the program by primary care nurses and pediatricians, by means of an optional prescription.
For its part, the sports activity takes place in the municipal facilities assigned by the City Council.
"The benefits of this program are evident and the municipal collaboration that is required is really acceptable," the councilor from Cartagena has argued.
In addition to the assignment of the installation, the administrations share monitors to carry out the activities.
Subsequently, Soler stressed the importance of "involving parents in the objective of the program, so from the family it is easier to internalize habits and work in the preventive field."
The mayor has concluded wishing, once the support of the Plenary, "the maximum speed for the children of the municipality who need it benefit from the program since the beginning of the school year."
