MC Cartagena has visited, this morning, the offices of La Resi, an integral center promoted by the Association for the Protection of Persons with Disabilities (ASTUS), in La Vaguada.
The Resi is located on a plot of 6,000 m2, which houses a 3,500 m2 health care facility on two floors.
The center is aimed at people with intellectual disabilities or severe mental illness over 45 years old or who, despite being under that age, are in the process of aging.
At the moment, it has 25 places of day center and another 24 of residence, existing the possibility of expanding, in the future, that number (49) to 74 places.
It is foreseen that, at the beginning of next August, the activity of La Resi will begin gradually.
The councilors of the MC Cartagena municipal group, Isabel García, Francisco Calderón, María José Soler and Ricardo Segado, as well as the president of the formation, Jesús Giménez, and the secretary of Organization, Ángel Tarifa, have come to know La Resi.
They have been accompanied throughout the tour by the president of ASTUS, Joaquín Barberá.
It should be recalled that, under the responsibilities of MC in the municipal government, the preparation of the land in which the construction of La Resi was carried out was executed, with the mayor, José López, who laid the first stone of the work on June 28, 2016.
Likewise, the Consistory, also during the MC Cartagena mayor's office, considered the construction of this center as municipal work, by agreement of the Governing Board of July 17, 2015, implying this measure the exemption from the payment of municipal taxes.
