The general director of Youth, Francisco Sánchez, visited this week the young people who participate in the field of volunteering 'Cartagena.
Discover its archaeological and cultural heritage ', which takes place from July 16 to 27.
24 volunteers from various autonomous communities participate.
The general director said that "the fields are a form of voluntary service, which also offer the possibility of knowing other places and forms of culture, promoting the characteristic values ​​of volunteering."
The young people, between 18 and 30 years old, carry out works and activities aimed at commemorating the European Year of Cultural Heritage, "they know and enjoy the millenary city of Cartagena and its cultural offer, and are directly involved with the work of recovery and promotion of cultural and archaeological heritage, "said Sánchez.
The activities of this volunteer field include theoretical training and didactic workshops on the Archaeological Heritage of the Roman City of Cartagonova.
The participants are aware of the aspects related to the history of Cartagena, the characteristics of its coast and the rich local cultural heritage.
They work in the recovery of the archaeological heritage, in the maintenance of the recovered pieces, and put in value the works of recovery of the archaeological wealth.
They will also make and disseminate a promotional video with the activities carried out.
