This month of July, the Municipal Archive highlights as video of the month an interview with Alfonso Grandal that TeleCartagena carried out in 1996, on the occasion of the publication of the book "Manual of History of Cartagena".
In addition, on this occasion the document of the month is the file on the settlement of Juan Francisco Fontana, dated 1610.
Recorded in the dependencies of the Municipal Archive, in the video of the month the philosopher and historian Alfonso Grandal can be seen in an interview granted to TeleCartagena in which he details all the details of the Middle Ages in the municipality, which are reflected in the book " Manual of History of Cartagena ", of which Grandal is coauthor.
This book, which was printed in 1996, was edited by the City of Cartagena, in collaboration with the University of Murcia and with the Savings Bank of the Mediterranean and it can read little-known anecdotes of the history of Cartagena.
This graphic document is part of the legacy of the file that TeleCartagena transferred to the City of Cartagena, a year ago and after reaching an agreement with the Consistory.
The file that the local television gave to the City Council is composed of some 8,000 tapes in the formats UMATIC, BETACAM, DVCAM and VHS in which are images that are part of the recent history Cartagena since 1987, when TeleCartagena began its journey .
Currently, from the Consistory is working to digitize all these graphic documents, thus avoiding that this important part of the municipality is lost.
On the other hand, the document of the month includes, on this occasion, the file by which the Genoese Juan Francisco Fontana was admitted as a neighbor of Cartagena, a fact that occurred in the year 1610.
With the initiative document of the month, the Municipal Archive aims to give visibility and prominence to the different pieces that are part of this local institution so that citizens know the history of the municipality through them.
