One more year the Virgen del Carmen returned to leave in procession by the dock of Cartagena.
On this occasion - the boat that hosts the image of the Virgin changes every year - was the "Always Kalima" the one in charge of removing in procession the sea from the Patron of sailors and fishermen, who was accompanied by 25 boats that are part of the Fishermen's Guild and some pleasure boats.
After a walking tour, in which the women of the aforementioned Brotherhood carried the Virgin of Carmen from the church of Santiago Apóstol to the port of the fishing district, from where the whole delegation left on the boats to complete the traditional route through the dock of Cartagena and in which all the boats delivered floral centers as a sign of gratitude to the Virgin.
The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, participated both in the procession and in the different activities that took place throughout the day to commemorate the Day of the Virgin of Carmen, a date marked in all coastal municipalities, such as Cartagena.
Before the procession, at 6:30 p.m., a mass was celebrated in which he made an offering of fish, bread and wine at the Santiago Apóstol Church in the Santa Lucía neighborhood, which was also attended by the mayor of the Quality area. of Life and Wellbeing, Obdulia Gómez.
