The Community invests in Cartagena more than 9.7 million for places in day centers and residential care, early care or rotating homes, among others
President Fernando Lopez Miras expressed his commitment today that "before the end of the year we will increase the number of places in day centers for people with disabilities by 35".
Specifically, the Astus day center for people with intellectual disabilities will expand 25 more places, and the center for people affected by brain damage Kipe will have 10 new places.
To them we must add the 10 places that were extended this year in the day center of Asido in Cartagena.
At this moment, the port city has a total of 459 places for people with disabilities in different centers, to which will be added the 35 that will be expanded before the end of 2018, the president said during the visit to the center of day of the Association for the Community Integration of Psychic Patients of Cartagena and Region (Ápices), where the Community has 60 places arranged to attend people with chronic mental disorder.
López Miras highlighted the "work carried out by all the professionals working at Ápices", and remarked "the important objectives they are achieving, improving people's quality of life and their personal autonomy, encouraging their communication skills, stimulating their memory and the ability to relate. "
In this regard, he assured that "we will continue to help because people are our priority".
In Cartagena, the Community allocates more than 9.7 million to places in day centers and residential care, early care or rotating homes, among others.
In this municipality it serves 800 people with disabilities.
In the whole of the Region, there are more than 4,000 places only in care centers for people with disabilities and people with chronic mental disorder.
This, together with subsidies and grants, means that the Community finances the direct care of more than 16,000 people with disabilities or chronic mental disorders in the Region.
