Objective: to advance social cohesion

The ICI Project, developed by the "la Caixa" Welfare Projects in 37 territories, has the program's key axes: health, community education and citizen participation.

The ICI Project has consolidated two major objectives over eight years: the first, strengthen local communities, and the second, develop an approach and methodology with scientific rigor.

For this, the Obra Social "la Caixa" has the collaboration of local social entities and public administration.

The ICI Project is born from the need to face a new reality that, with the migratory movements of our society, make cities increasingly diverse.

As a result of this phenomenon, territories with high cultural diversity were selected to work specifically on the integration of the social fabric at the neighborhood level.

This methodology is specified in neighborhood meetings for all ages, which aim to strengthen coexistence, ensure greater social cohesion and value the cultural, ethnic, linguistic and religious diversity of each neighborhood.

The ICI Project in Historic Area and Sector Station of Cartagena

In Cartagena, the Obra Social "la Caixa" has been developing the ICI Project since 2014, together with the City Council of this city and the social entity Fundación Cepaim in the neighborhoods of the Historic District and the Estación Sector, where work is being carried out to promote social cohesion and dialogue intercultural

In Historic District and Sector Station, priority is given to the diversity of citizens.

It is estimated that more than 700 people have participated in the various actions promoted by the ICI Project.
