The Auditorium of the Torres Park will host the next 24 and 25 August the representation of the classic theater play Caligula at 22 hours.
The presentation was made by the mayor of Culture, Education and Youth, David Martínez Noguera, who was accompanied by the actor and producer of Bonjourmonamour, Pedro Segura;
the actor and director of Ditirambo, Pepe Ortas;
and the professor of the Aula Taller Teatro Desván and actor-producer of Treasure, José Salguero.
The councilor has indicated that it is a portrait of the third Roman emperor, Cuyo Julius Caesar Augusto Germanic, who went down in history by his childhood nickname, Caligula.
David Martínez explained that Calígula is the first play written by Albert Camús in 1937 and that it was presented for the first time in 1945. He also pointed out that after Camús he continued working to give it its final form in 1957, 20 years later its first version.
In addition, he explained that it is a set of works that are integrated into one and configure some unique and disturbing texts that drag their questions to the present.
For his part, Pedro Segura has defined Caligula as the best written contemporary work of historical dramaturgy;
and has indicated that the auditorium of Parque Torres, where the work will be performed, is one of the most beautiful because of the environment in which it is located.
Segura stressed that we must enhance this space and has advanced that next September will present to the City Council a project that is working towards 2019 called The Sea of ​​Classics, which involves bringing to Cartagena professional companies with the help of the consistory and other companies that want to collaborate.
With regard to this project, the councilor has indicated that he has his hand outstretched because Cartagena has the raw material needed to carry it out, that they are great actors and actresses, and has indicated that what is needed is to find the budget to be able to take the project forward.
Finally, Segura has invited the residents of Cartagena to attend and enjoy the set design, the staging and costumes, as well as the professional work that the cast has carried out and added that tickets can be purchased at the El Corte Ingles website and the price of them is from 12.50 euros.
