Braced solidarity to help people with rare diseases (11/07/2018)

San Ginés beach will once again be the stage where hundreds of swimmers will start the 'Playas de La Azohía Solidarity Crossing', which will celebrate its second edition on Sunday, August 5th.

The money collected from the inscriptions to the test will go to the Association of Rare Diseases D'Genes and the Tíovivo Foundation, which promotes social integration with people with disabilities, carrying out therapies with horses and other animals.

The swim cruise was presented this Wednesday, July 11, by the Councilor for Sports, Obdulia Gómez;

by the General Director of Sports of the Autonomous Community, Alonso Gómez;

the organizer of the crossing and volunteer D'Genes, Mari Ángeles Díaz;

and by the director of D'Genes, Miguel Ángel Ruiz.

The solidary sports event will take place from 8:00 am with departure from San Ginés Beach.

This second edition will have four distances: The 1,500 meters swim course for adults, the 600 meters for children and 100 meters solidarity, for those who start in the test.

As a novelty, this year the challenge of 5,000 meters will be disputed.

Registration to participate can be done on the Line Out website, from 15 euros.

The Councilor for Sports, Obdulia Goméz, has stated that these solidarity activities, in addition, serve to boost the area west of the coast of Cartagena.

The collection of the test will be to help the association D'Genes that works for people with rare diseases "because rare diseases are not people, as your slogan says", Gomez explained.

Last year, the solidarity journey was "a success", as explained by its organizers.

300 participants enrolled in the first test, managing to raise 4,500 euros that went to the D'Genes association.

In this second edition, the collection of this solidarity event will be shared with the Tíovivo Foundation, aware that there are many organizations that need funds for their causes.

Sixty percent will be for D'Genes and 40 percent for the Tíovivo Foundation.
