The Department of Education offers free dining service to over 250 children during the months of July and August, through the Summer Schools.
The edile of Education, David Martinez and representatives of the Rascasa collective visited this Tuesday, July 10, some of the centers that offer this service such as: Asdrúbal de Lo Campano schools, Aníbal de Los Mateos and Stella Maris of the Virgen neighborhood of the charity.
In addition to playful and educational activities children enjoy the dining service, thus ensuring their proper nutrition, as during the rest of the course.
As explained by the mayor of Education, these schools "were born with the idea of ​​meeting the need for social dining in the summer."
A total of 950 places are offered in all schools, of which 250 are with a dining room.
"It must be said that since we arrived at the Government, in 2015, the number of places offered in the Summer Schools has tripled," said Martínez, who in turn has expressed the great demand they have for being free, so from the City Council are studying how to increase these places for upcoming summers.
The children are attended at all times by instructors.
Ana Vicente is one of these instructors from the Asdrúbal de Lo Campano school who has explained the activities they carry out with the children.
They begin with sports activities in the schoolyard to later enter the classrooms and carry out activities.
"Every week we have a different theme, this week the theme is emotions, and today we are making a dream catcher", explained Vicente.
REQUIREMENTS
To have been granted a scholarship with a school canteen during the course.
Preference for children with parents with the lowest incomes.
Family conciliation, preference to applicants whose two parents work.
In addition, the Summer Schools welcome children from the councils of Social Services and Equality.
