The General Directorate of Environment and Mar Menor of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia has informed the City of Cartagena that it has proceeded to activate Level 1 (preventive) for episode of environmental pollution PM10 particles in La Aljorra, due to the arrival of sub-Saharan dust swept by the prevailing winds during the day yesterday, according to the "Framework Protocol for Municipal Action in Environmental Episodes of Pollution of NO2 and PM10".
The activation occurred as a consequence of the fact that the average daily concentration of PM10 particles in the La Aljorra control station reached a value of 52 μg / m3 of air (level 1 is activated when the daily average concentration exceeds 50 μg. / m3).
The Framework Protocol recommends using public transport, the sharing of private vehicles and avoiding stubble burning, among other measures.
