Learn to sail to prawn, or start in the paddle with kayak and dragon can do the children of Cartagena in the Workshops of the Sea. Thanks to them this year more than 300 children will go to sea to go 'wind in stern and all candle'.
Three shifts of workshops are offered this year, one more than the past.
The first half of July is already being developed, started on Monday, July 2, and ends on Friday, July 13.
This first shift is complete and has 120 students.
The other 120 students will go to sea on the second shift, from July 16 to 27.
The novelty of this year is the turn of August, from July 30 to August 10, for which 50 children have enrolled, but there are still seats, to complete the 120 places offered.
The councilman of education, David Martinez, has visited this Friday, July 6, the Workshops of the Sea organized by the Department that he directs and that has the collaboration of the Royal Club de Regatas de Cartagena.
Martinez has been very satisfied with the success of these workshops and the great demand that this activity has.
"Every year is adding more students, which means that from the Department of Education we continue working to try to lengthen each year more courses, so that each year we have more seats, as in this occasion we have extended a fortnight, the first August ", explained the mayor of Culture.
The mayor of Education has also highlighted the importance of "the children of Cartagena learn the art of sailing and practicing the different water sports that can be practiced in the port of Cartagena, so close to the city."
Martínez wanted to share with the students, who are between the ages of 5 and 17, a day of navigation, taking to the sea in the rowing boat known as the dragon.
Children who want to learn and have fun with these workshops can still do so in the August shift.
The amount of this activity is 87 euros per child.
Classes will be given from Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
In addition, it has a kangaroo classroom service from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and from 14:00 a.m. to 2:30 a.m., with a supplement of 15 euros.
Javier Moral is one of the students of these workshops who has explained the great experience that has been participating in them.
Javier signed up in the first workshop that the Department, 8 years ago: "In the first workshop I was fond, I was enjoying sailing, and in fact I continue doing water activities throughout the year, and all thanks to the Workshop of the Mar ", explained the veteran student of 17 years.
The fourteen instructors are in charge of teaching the children in a fun way the handling of sails, the parts of the boat, the rigging, the winds and the knots;
they also give them notions about directions and the main maneuvers of tack, sail through, tight and empowered among other arts.
