The Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP) initiates in Cartagena a Conference on Psychiatry and Law, called 'Involuntary placement for reason of psychic disorder'.
This training has the support of the City of Cartagena and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, developing with the collaboration of the Official Chamber of Commerce of Cartagena and the Illustrious Bar Association of Cartagena.
The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, has attended this Thursday, July 5, the opening of the conference to be held between July 5 and 6 in the School of Business Sciences of the UPCT.
The mayor congratulated the organizers for combining both themes: psychiatry and law.
"A world so complicated to find that perfect balance between the inmate, who wants to do it voluntarily, and he who does not, he who does it involuntarily," the councilor said.
Castejón in this act also wanted to thank the Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP) "for choosing Cartagena for the realization of these days" and also for establishing a permanent headquarters in the city from which they do a great job.
The course is intended for professionals involved in the procedure of internment of patients suffering from mental disorders.
The sessions have a duration of 11 hours and have begun this July 5 with the presentation of the course.
To obtain the diploma of this course it will be necessary to accredit a participation in the course higher than 80 percent and to have exceeded, in case, the established level tests.
During the course, experts in the field of health and law will meet to discuss and deepen the procedures for admission to mental health institutions.
The objective is to shed light on the legal aspects that affect internment and estimate the possible clinical repercussions on patients.
Among the papers of this Thursday, July 5, are titled: 'The terms of Article 763 of the LEC', 'A review of the STCs in the matter with special reference to 34/2016', and 'Involuntary internments and Legal Assistance '.
The second day of the conference, on July 6, the papers will be two tables under the same title, 'Institutions, Solutions ?;
Alternatives?'.
