The Working Table for Reforestation of the City of Cartagena met this morning to appoint its new president, the Councilor for Quality of Life, Obdulia Gómez, and analyze the status of the reforestation carried out and the study of new ones.
At the end of the meeting, Obdulia Gómez expressed her satisfaction for the development of the meeting in which it was agreed the next elaboration by the municipal technicians of a Master Plan that coordinates the actions that are carried out in this matter and of viability.
The councilor pointed out that until now there has been a somewhat scattered and spontaneous action on the part of some groups and it is necessary to combine and plan efforts.
To this end, the Master Plan will indicate the areas in which reforestation should be carried out, in what form and with what species, to ensure its viability.
Obdulia Gómez has anticipated that the reforestation areas in which at the moment they are going to continue acting of priority form, will be those of the surroundings of Alumbres and the Valley of Escombreras, with the idea of ​​creating a green belt.
Regarding the actions that have already begun, the councilor has indicated that the Reforestation Board has agreed to continue with them, specifically with those that were made in the 600 and the Cerro de Los Moros.
It has also been proposed to take advantage of the dead zones of highways and communication links to carry out reforestation.
Another idea that the councilor has put forward has referred to the corporate responsibility of companies, in terms of their carbon footprint.
In this sense has announced that from the City is going to offer the company municipal spaces in which reforestation to offset its impact on the carbon footprint.
