The neighbors of Isla Plana and La Azohía have this summer, a detachment of permanent local police, which establishes a point of attention to the citizen from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., from Monday to Friday.
Ten local agents have been assigned to the detachment, which will ensure security in this area of ​​the coast throughout the summer season.
The state of the new detachment, located in La Azohía, was overseen this Wednesday, July 4, by the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, the mayor of Seguridad Ciudadana, Francisco Aznar, the deputy chief inspector, Eusebio Serna and the president of the Neighborhood Board of Isla Plana-La Azohía, María Dolores Díaz.
The Local Police of Cartagena puts at disposal of the neighbors and holidaymakers an agent, who will be attending the public from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., from Monday to Friday.
In addition to the two agents patrolling the area.
In total, 10 agents are assigned during the summer to this area of ​​the coast to strengthen surveillance.
The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, said that this new detachment is a commitment of the City "from the Department of Security is doing a good planning to respond to any security issue in this area."
The councilor also explained that the detachment is in a municipal building, whose refurbishment costs have cost the municipal coffers around 18,000 euros.
The local has 30 square meters of surface, housing in its interior a position of attention to the citizen.
In this detachment, an agent will assist and help the neighbors in the face of any security problem.
For its part, the councilor for Public Safety, Francisco Aznar, said that "the coast is always reinforced with troops, but since the dissolution of the Municipal Institute of Litoral Services (Imsel), the area of ​​the west coast did not have a permanent detachment , although it did have the reinforcement of agents ".
"One of the decisions of this government team was to find a location, which was very difficult in the Azohía, to install the police detachment that was badly needed."
The conditioning of this municipal property, "has been an effort we have made so that, at least, the policemen who are in this area have a place to change, as well as being a point of information and attention to the citizen", as explained by the mayor of Seguridad Ciudadana.
The president of the Neighborhood Board of Isla Plana-La Azohía, María Dolores Díaz, has also shown her satisfaction for this new detachment.
"We are happy that there is surveillance and security for the residents of this area, which also covers Isla Plana and El Campillo.
In addition, the neighbors are happy that it has given a good use to this house that was unused, "said Diaz.
