The Local Government Board of the City Council will approve this afternoon, in extraordinary session, to present the project, made by MC Cartagena during the Government of José López, for the recovery and enhancement of the Roman Amphitheater to the call of the 'Program 1.5% Cultural ', that the Ministry of Public Works promotes to finance works of conservation or enrichment of real estate of the Historical Heritage.

In this sense, the councilor and person in charge of Culture and Heritage of the Cartagena training, Ricardo Segado, stressed that "we celebrate that the misrule of Caostejón has decided to follow the path traced by MC".

It should be recalled that the Government Board approved, among other matters, the commitment to include in the Municipal Budget of 2019 the necessary credits to cover 25% of the cost of the project, as well as the presentation thereof to public call.

Need to finalize the Master Plan of the deposit

Segado explained that the realization of this project has been carried out "under the technical and expert baton of Mari Carmen Berrocal, to whom we will always appreciate her work for and for the archaeological heritage of this city".

On the other hand, the mayor has lamented that "while the Autonomous Community continues to work against the progress of Cartagena and the work of the local government

it shines by its absence, or by the photos, it is due to finalize the Plan Director of the deposit, since without him no it will be possible to be continued advancing in his recovery ".

Amendment for the adaptation of the surroundings of the Amphitheater

Similarly, the Cartagena responsible for Culture and Heritage recalled the amendment submitted by MC to the municipal budgets which included a game of 120,000 euros for the adequacy of the environment of the amphitheater.

"It seems that the presentation of our amendment has opened the socialist eyes and, although it hurts them and it stings them to recognize that our work was the right one, they have decided to advance in this same sense", the mayor has pointed out.

The Roman Amphitheater of Cartagena is the only archaeological site of its kind without digging and adding value to all of Spain.

Thus, the cartagenerista formation indicated in its amendment the necessity to "elaborate of immediate form the Master Plan on these performances".

Also, with the aim of not paralyzing the project, "MC proposes to allocate an economic item in this annuity to improve and adapt the surroundings of the Plaza, something much in demand by the UPCT, students and citizens".
