New ideas for new problems.

The startup Joynfilm, designed by Jairo Peña Iglesias, will save time by choosing films or series within the extensive catalogs of audiovisual content platforms on streaming on demand.

The business project of this student of Telematic Engineering in the Polytechnic has been the most valued in the twenty developed in the Explorer Space UPCT program, which has culminated this week after more than five months of training in entrepreneurship. As a reward, the student will travel in November to Silicon Valley with the entrepreneurs who have won the different local editions Explorer program of Santander.

"For engineers, it's like Disneyworld," enthuses Jairo Peña.

"It's like the Paris of the Enlightenment, where the revolution of the 21st century is taking place," he adds. The business project of the Polytechnic student responds to an increasingly recurrent demand.

"When you get together at home with friends, it takes more time to choose a movie than to enjoy it," explains Jairo Peña.

"It also happens to you only because the offer on the platforms is overwhelming," he argues. Joynfilm users will register the platforms on which they are subscribed and the contents they have yet to see, and thanks to an algorithm and Big Data will choose, according to the tastes of all those attending the audiovisual session and what they have already seen, the most affine film or series, "saving time and avoiding discussions", adds the author of the idea. Joynfilm's monetization will come from the film and series producers, who will access the Big Data generated by the users, as well as being able to carry out market studies with very visual tests.

Also of commissions of the subscriptions that obtain the platforms of content through affiliate marketing. Jairo entered the UPCT Explorer Space "to learn to turn an idea into a business reality" and has applied the marketing techniques that he has learned in the store of pastry from his mother, La Dulce Ilusión, getting more customers through Google positioning, data analysis and management of social networks. The Explorer program 'Young people with Ideas' promotes young talent, entrepreneurial spirit and the creation of innovative ideas and is part of the global Santander X entrepreneurship community. .

In its eight previous editions, Explorer has favored the creation of more than 500 companies and has boosted the projects of more than 4,500 entrepreneurs.
