The City of Cartagena wants to continue establishing policies of inclusion, non-discrimination and education among the population.
His latest initiative, within Cartagena city 'LGTBIQ Friendly', is the campaign that has started among the Cartagena companies to adhere to it by providing a badge that will indicate that they work on raising awareness of the principles of equal opportunities and respect for the diversity.
In this regard, last Monday, June 18, a meeting was held in the Department of Culture, which was attended by the councilor of the Government of Culture, Education and Youth, David Martínez Noguera;
the councilor of the Economic Strategy and Treasury Government area, Carmen Martín;
representatives of the Chamber of Commerce of Cartagena;
of the Association of Hotels and Tourist Lodgings of Cartagena and Region;
of the Collective Galactyco of Cartagena and municipal technicians of the councils of Culture, Education and Equality, and to which were also invited representatives of Hostecar, as well as of different associations of merchants, where the bases of a campaign were presented so that Cartagena could be declared a city 'LGTBIQ Friendly'.
During the sharing of the same, and after hearing the different opinions and ideas emerged, it was agreed to develop a commitment document LGTBIQ Friendly practices for companies who want to join this initiative, as well as approve the badge of the campaign.
The proposal of the City of Cartagena to companies for membership has established seven commitments.
The first of these is to create an inclusive LGBTIQ culture, whose values ​​should be disseminated among its staff.
In addition, companies must manage sexual diversity in a transversal manner.
On the other hand, they should consider communication as a valuable tool to promote and develop an inclusive culture.
The fourth proposal is to base these policies on respect and not on tolerance.
It also establishes that a protocol be created in the event of discrimination and to prepare an annual report of activities for the implementation of inclusive policies, as well as to consider new actions.
And finally, locate the distinctive 'Cartagena LGBTIQ Friendly' in a visible place, so that the company makes its commitment public.
TO ADHER TO THE CAMPAIGN
Just send an email to the Department of Culture of the City of Cartagena requesting to participate in the same in the Culture email and putting contact information.
Once the request is received, technicians of the council will take the appropriate steps to indicate what you have to do.
OTHER ACTIVITIES
Throughout the year, the City Council carries out numerous activities whose main objective is to educate on sexual equality and diversity, which it has been doing for two years.
In this sense, lectures and lectures are given in schools, through the Department of Equality and in collaboration with other groups such as GALACTYCO, as well as in the programs of the FICCMoteca and Cartagena Piensa.
In addition, on the occasion of the week EnorgulleCt in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento waves the rainbow flag and the collective TRANS from Thursday, June 28 and will do so until Saturday, June 30.
Also the facade of the Town Hall and the replica of the Peral Submarine on the Paseo de Alfonso XIII, are illuminated with the colors of the rainbow.
All these activities are small actions that add to the great action of Cartagena city 'LGTBIQ Friendly'.
