The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, will preside over the act of nomination of Cristina Esparza Martín Youth Resource Center on the Paseo de Alfonso XIII on Saturday.
The ceremony will take place at 12 noon and in it the mayor will make a semblance of the honoree, will read the agreement of the plenary adopted unanimously on May 16 and discover the signs with the new name.
The posthumous homage to the municipal sexologist who died in January 2015, months after having reached her early retirement, has been promoted by the Collective Galactyco de Cartagena, who in 2009 named her honorary member and gave her name to the awards she awards annually .
In the plenary agreement, which ratified the Honors and Distinctions file instructed by Councilman David Martínez Noguera, the work developed during several decades, since 1984, by this municipal worker, who was a pioneer in the implementation of different activities, was highlighted. courses and workshops aimed at the promotion of gender equality, sexual freedom and human rights of the LGTBI collective, especially among youth.
The homage has been made to coincide precisely with the celebration of the LGTBI Pride week.
