The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, and the mayor of Municipal Services, Juan Pedro Torralba, put into action yesterday Wednesday, June 27, the lighting and ornamentation of the roundabout of the replica of the Peral Submarine, made by students of the Institute Polytechnic of Cartagena, at the intersection of Paseo Alfonso XIII and Capitanes Ripoll, at the entrance to Cartagena.
With this, the refurbishment works of this roundabout were completed, which included the construction of a rectangular fountain around the replica of the Peral submarine, the installation of LED lighting, the placement of a steel sign in which one can read 'Cartagena', as well as the installation of irrigation and gardening systems, have had a total budget of 200,678.94 euros.
The lighting that has been provided is programmable, through a remote control, which will illuminate the submarine of different colors to highlight the celebration of events or the commemoration of ephemeris.
The first of these has been the celebration of the LGTB pride week, so the different jets of the fountain will shine during these days with the colors of the rainbow.
The Councilor for Public Services has indicated that this programmable color lighting system will be extended to other sources and monuments in the city.
The next one that has been planned is that of the Plaza de la Puertas de San José.
