The Association of Relatives and Patients of Alzheimer of Cartagena and Region, Afal, exposes until June 25 at the San Antonio Catholic University of Murcia, UCAM, the sample of works and posters made by technicians and users of the NGO.
The itinerant exhibition entitled "I have Alzheimer's and I'm still me" aims to show society the different neurodegenerative diseases, how they affect the brain and which cognitive areas are worked through the various activities that are enhanced with patients, according to has indicated the coordinator of Afal, Sonia Gayoso.
The lack of memory, alterations of the personality, mental rigidity, tremors are some of the pathologies that are treated in Afal through their workshops, works that in principle seem as simple as placing hours on a clock, counting money, writing texts , solve mazes, for patients with brain damage is quite complex, as explained Gayoso.
The sample includes therapies performed by Afal patients according to the different pathologies, works that range from sports collectively, to interactive computer games "everything that develops the cognitive abilities of patients", according to the coordinator.
The exhibition also shows the different events organized by Afal and the services offered by the NGO in its offices in Cartagena, San Javier.
