The municipal group registers the request for the opening of an informative file before the Ministry of the Environment, asks for a quick and diligent investigation, and celebrates that the City Council rectifies after the mobilization of the residents of Alumbres
CTSSP - PODEMOS has directed, today June 14, a request to the Ministry of Environment for the immediate opening of an information file on the events of day 12 in the Valley of Escombreras.
The purple formation, that was in the place as soon as the facts were known, has demanded a diligent investigation on the part of the authorities and has requested that all the responsibilities, as much of the administrations as of the company be purged.
Pilar Marcos, councilor of PODEMOS in the Town Hall, met with neighbors, workers of the company and with the director of the school of Alumbres, and checked in situ the seriousness of everything that was happening: lack of information, failure of the emergency plan , lack of coordination and disagreements between the local administration, firefighters and REPSOL, and the immediate consequence of all this: the alarm and the neighborhood fear that generates the helplessness.
The municipal group of PODEMOS has celebrated that the Government of the Town hall rectifies its initial position, and that at last gave credit to what the dwelling formation has been proposing from the beginning, coinciding with the testimonies of the neighbors and of the workers themselves.
Likewise, CTSSP requires the immediate convocation of the Air Quality Board, where it is necessary that, in addition to the neighbors, the CARM and representatives of the company, environmental groups and environmental protection be invited, as has always been the case. .
The municipal group of PODEMOS celebrates that the residents of Alumbres are organizing and mobilizing in the defense of their rights: information, transparency, security in the town, citizen health and guarantees of the quality of the air they breathe.
For these reasons, and because it is historic the abandonment in which Alumbres has been for years, the purple formation announced that in addition to asking the Ministry to investigate all the details of what happened on June 12 in REPSOL, it will present initiatives in the Plenary Session of the City Council to improve the lives of the people near the Valley of Escombreras, proposals on the subject of accident prevention, update of the Emergency Plan, improvement of the network of air quality measuring stations, care of the natural environment and fairness demand to have an alternative evacuation route in case of emergencies.
