- According to the spokesman for Citizens in Cartagena, "the free transfer of municipal sports facilities to associations and clubs in Cartagena has to be done under scrupulous criteria of equity, and the current regulation does not even include a regulation to do so"
- The orange training spokesman has received the directive of the Cartagena Youth Sports Association and has been able to see this new sports project in the municipality
The spokesman of Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, has received in its municipal offices the board of the Cartagena Youth Sports Association, a newly created basketball club that constitutes another alternative in the municipality for learning basketball and promoting the sport among the youngest.
During the meeting, the president of the club, Juan José Martínez, announced the project to Cs and also some of the difficulties they have facing the start of next season.
Youth Cartagena, duly registered in the General Directorate of Sports and the City of Cartagena, has at this time three teams, a senior team in the Second Autonomous, a Junior team and another Child that was proclaimed last year champion of Group C2.
Despite its successful first season, the board of the Cartagena Youth needs to have an approved municipal track for training and play matches of different competitions.
Juan José Martínez has informed that during 2017 they have been paying for the hiring of a track, and that these economic resources could be allocated to children and young people who belong to the sports association if the City Council provides them with a municipal facility.
The president of the club has reported that he plans to meet with the Councilor for Sports, Obdulia Gómez, on June 20 to formalize this request.
On June 1, the sports competitions in which they are immersed ended and require a space to hold a day of gates to attract players and begin training sessions.
In the spirit of this club is to have a closer and friendly relationship with the City Council to present and offer their present and future sporting successes.
According to the spokesperson for Citizens in Cartagena, "the cession of municipal sports facilities to Cartagena associations and clubs has to be done under scrupulous criteria of equity."
"We believe that the root of this problem is in the current Regulation of Use and Operation of Sports Facilities, this document, which regulates this issue in the municipality, is too vague and requires more specificity, not even granting the right to free transfer to the non-profit organizations that need it, "explained Manuel Padín, who has indicated that it is necessary" to specify, through the modification of the regulations or the creation of an ordinance, the conditions of access and use of our sports facilities for all sports entities that exist in Cartagena ".
Citizens understand that the reservation of municipal spaces should be clearly planned, with dates for the submission of applications, with criteria and requirements, to non-profit entities that, due to their characteristics, need special promotion or protection, "as is done in Madrid, Barcelona, Murcia or Mula, there the regulations regulate this, but not ours, in Madrid, for example, the criteria for the assignment of free spaces to applicants that show that they lack adequate or sufficient sports facilities for the development of their activities , are among others, the number of athletes participating in competition, the number of members, if there is promotion of women's sport and for people with disabilities, or the category and its sporting projection.
