The Governing Council has authorized the Ministry of Employment, Universities, Enterprise and Environment to sign an agreement with the City of Lorca to protect biodiversity in the Regional Park of Calnegre and Cabo Cope in a manner compatible with the enjoyment of its beaches by part of the people, especially in the peak season, the summer.
The agreement establishes control of the massive access of motor vehicles for the conservation of flora and fauna, provide environmental information about the Regional Park and adequately attend to that high public use that falls on the protected natural space.
To achieve this triple objective, a plan is put in place to control the entry of vehicles into the Regional Park and access by public transport, as well as the development of actions to improve communication systems, civil protection, cleaning, surveillance and environmental information, all with the objective of conserving the biodiversity of the protected natural space and the use and enjoyment of people.
Specifically, the action focuses on controlling access to Cala Calnegre, Cala Baño de las Mujeres and Playa del Siscal in the municipality of Lorca.
Likewise, the agreement establishes to guarantee an adequate development of the service of control of access of visitors and a fast answer in front of possible emergency situations, besides adapting the infrastructures of the natural space to assure the good operation of the system of public transport.
