This Saturday June 16 will be held in Cartagena the fourth edition of the Music Festival, open to all people who wish to participate;
Novelists or veterans, amateurs and professionals of all musical tendencies, will fill the streets, parks and squares with their sounds and melodies for the enjoyment of the citizens.
The Councilor for Education, Culture and Youth, David Martínez, has been in charge of offering all the details of the musical event.
In addition, during the presentation the young cellist of the Conservatory of Cartagena, Miguel Atienza, at nine years has offered a live concert in which he has played two classic pieces.
The Music Festival, launched in 1982 in France as Fête de la Musique, is celebrated today in more than 750 cities in 120 countries. It celebrates this art in all its forms, having an important impact all over the world, such as said Victor Hugo "Music expresses what can not be said in words but can not remain silent".
As recalled by the mayor of Education, Culture and Youth, David Martinez, "in Cartagena was held for the first time in 2015, by the initiative of a European volunteer of the Erasmus + EVS program, Angelique Medina, and has continued to celebrate in successive years until today ".
This musical event will feature a multitude of performances, musical groups that will entertain various corners of the city center, such as the Quillo Youth Drum Association, a musical group that will open this 4th edition with a small parade through the center of the city;
the Music School "Sonidos Aula Suzuki" of Murcia, with children between the ages of 3 and 10, who will perform songs by Tina Turner, Coldplay and Radiohead, among others.
The Sauces Team A will also be present, formed by students from the Sauces Music School, created in 2008.
The ICUE will be the place chosen to enjoy the pop of Claudia Vergotti, the alternate Rock of Meat Murder and the sounds Rockers of Line 24, closing the event with the pop rock of the Cartagena group Los Recortables.
It will also be in this scenario where the name of the winners will be revealed in the individual and group categories of the last edition of the Urban Night CT contest.
As in previous editions, all those musicians who want to act spontaneously will have a Free Axis, which will be between 20:30 and 22:00 hours and will be identified with a banner.
The points of this free axis will be the Main Street (point where it ends at the Plaza del Ayuntamiento), Calle Honda, next to the neighborhood of the Roman Forum, and Plaza de San Sebastián.
This last point and as a novelty this year will feature a grand piano available to musicians who want to perform an interpretation, thanks to the collaboration of Iberpiano, a company that actively participates in projects linked to the promotion and support of musical culture in the Region. of Murcia.
At the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center from 20:00 hours on the stage will be an exchange of choirs, with the intervention of the Choir "Adolfo Vázquez" of Cartagena and the Choir of the Alberca de Murcia "Musicalberca", within the FECOREM programming, Choir Federation.
The Regional Museum of Modern Art (MURAM), joins this initiative with a performance of the students of the Department of Rope-Bow of the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena led by the teachers of piano Antonia Cerdán and José Miguel Atienzar and the cello teacher Elena María García, who accompanied by a piano will perform several musical pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, Purcell, Paganini, Saint-Saens and others.
The fourth edition of the Weekend DJ, collaborates in this Festival of Music 2018 with two sessions, a morning, which will start at 12 o'clock, with live music, a giant paella, barbecue and a concentration of Custom motorcycles and another night session from from 9:00 pm, with the participation of outstanding DJs, and as a highlight the participation of Tony Aguilar.
The Music Festival 2018, has received the stamp of the European Year of Cultural Heritage for promoting the exchange and appreciation of Europe's cultural heritage as a shared resource.
