The Local Government Board meeting this morning with extraordinary character, under the presidency of the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, has approved the project of the basic modification and execution of the Paseo Marítimo in the vicinity of Galúa, in La Manga del Mar Menor, within of the framework of the Sustainable and Integrated Urban Development Strategy (EDUSI) "La Manga Abierta 365", co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund through the Operational Program for Sustainable Growth 2014-2020, "of the Ministry of Development and Infrastructure of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.
The board has also approved the collaboration agreement with the Ministry of the Presidency and Development of the Autonomous Region of Murcia for the provision of land in favor of the regional administration who will execute the project, subsequently corresponding maintenance to the consistory Cartagena
This agreement will be signed soon by the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, and the counselor, Patricio Valverde.
Precisely the assumption of maintenance, led the City to make a series of technical objections to the initial project.
These related among others to the lack of specific geotechnical and hydrological study;
references to another original project that created confusion;
omission of mandatory compliance rules;
use of materials that are not very resistant to the marine environment;
specifications of the proposed paving stone that generated problems in its conservation and maintenance;
lack of an artificial turf irrigation system;
modification of the projected trees that survive the strong east wind that characterizes this location and modification of the metal supports by others of polyester with fiberglass that avoids its corrosion.
These requirements were met with this new modified project, which was entered into the City Council on May 17 together with the proposed agreement.
Its internal processing has been accelerated to the maximum by the City Council to avoid delays, as evidenced by its approval in this extraordinary meeting.
The project that has a budget of 1,224,738.99 euros will involve the conversion of the current zone of vehicles and natural slopes, in a mixed zone of vehicles and pedestrians, which will give access to new conditioned public spaces, from which to lean out to the sea and to walk
