The XXXVI edition of the Annual Sports Awards Cartagena already has its winners.
The jury, composed of technicians of the City of Cartagena and representatives of the local media and chaired by the mayor of Sports, Obdulia Gómez, announced on Tuesday June 5 the failure of the 11 awards that will be delivered at the gala will be held on June 28 at El Batel.
From the Hall of Councilors of the Consistorial Palace came the Cartagena athletes who will be distinguished in the different categories of which the call consists.
Thus, the Jumillano and Cartagena athlete of adoption, Vicente Guardiola Poveda, and the player of Jimbee futsal, Mayte Mateo, have been elected athletes of the year 2017. Guardiola got last season the gold medal in the Championship of Spain decathlon , and Mateo, for his part, won the tournament IV Naciones de Guadalajara with the national team.
To congratulate them, the mayor was also there, Ana Belén Castejón.
The Sporting Event of the year was for the Ciudad de Cartagena Triathlon;
the IES Mediterranean, will receive the prize to the School Center, for its promotion of the sport.
The coach and leader of the world of swimming, Francisco Dominguez was designated winner of the Sports Trajectory.
In addition, the prize for the Sports Spirit went to El Algar Volleyball Club - Juan Sáez;
the award for the Best Base Club will be collected by the Trialbici Mandarache School, directed by Raúl Martínez, champion of Spain in this sport discipline.
The Revelation Entity of 2017 is the SFC Minerva and CD Minerva Femenina, both football clubs have helped consolidate this discipline in the Alumbres deputation.
For its part, the Virgen de la Caridad Medical Center, sponsor of several sporting events and clubs of the municipality, was chosen as Best Sponsor, and the Real Club de Regatas Cartagena won the Best National Club award.
Antonio Morales Pérez, coach of the CV Playas de Cartagena, with a long career in this area, will go on stage at El Batel to pick up the Best Trainer award.
In addition, the jury saw fit to establish four special mentions: the Regional College of Referees of Cartagena, the champion of the VII National Games of Transplant in swimming and athletics, José Montesinos García, the project Zancadas Sobre Ruedas and the clubs Hockey Cartagena and Skate in Cartagena Row.
The City of Cartagena, through the Department of Sports and in collaboration with the local media, announces the Annual Sports Awards Cartagena with the aim of recognizing the work of individuals and entities that, either by direct activity or personal initiative , or as participants in the development of the sports policy, they have contributed in an outstanding way to promote or spread sports physical activity in the municipality.
