Palma de Mallorca today hosts the first day of the Intercultural Community Intervention Project (ICI) State Meeting, which has been being developed in Cartagena for three years, promoted by the La Caixa Social Work and developed by the Cartagena City Council and the Cepaim Foundation.
The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, has participated in the round table 'Public-private partnership.
The challenge of sustainability ', to expose the impact that this initiative is having in our municipality, more specifically in the neighborhoods of the Historic Quarter and Sector Station.
"In Cartagena this project has provided us with new tools for the management of interculturality, which have allowed us to start building a neighborhood model with citizens, in which all the members feel perfectly identified.
For the first time, we are transforming the model of our institutions in such a way that the indisputable protagonists are the citizens, "said the mayor.
The mayor has referred to the tables of Education, Culture and Community Health, which have served as the basis for global citizen actions, open summer schools or the community team.
It has also highlighted the high level of commitment both the City Council and the other entities that develop it, which has been accredited with the Institutional Relations Space (ERI), which was established last November.
"Within this space we have celebrated the Community Health Days, in which more than 20 entities of the territory have made available to the public their talent to carry out a very diverse program in which more than 800 neighbors have participated, not only the Historical Center and Sector Station, but also other neighborhoods and councils of the municipality, "he recalled.
The meeting, which is held from today until next Thursday, June 7, has had the participation of those responsible for the 39 localities in which it is being developed.
