The president of Cartagena, Jesús Giménez, points out inclusion, social planning and sustainability as axes of the future and the action of MC

Today, the president of MC Cartagena, Jesús Giménez, lamented the abandonment of the MAPS project by the socialist government, an initiative that during the last two years has focused its efforts on the regeneration of the Los Mateos neighborhood and the Castle of the Moors. , counting for this purpose with the participation and inclusion of the residents of the neighborhood.

Giménez has contrasted the recognition obtained from European institutions through the cataloging of 'good practices' with the "oblivion" exercised at the municipal level.

"One more of the positive inertias and future opportunities that are held back by the inaction of the socialists."

Then, the Cartagena leader has described as "urgent" the need to present "the comprehensive action plan that has made the local group together with the UPCT", at the time of announcing the will of MC to urge the Government to " do it imminently. "

Subsequently, he recalled the amendment of his training to the municipal budget of 2018 to, through a contribution of 200,000 euros, "move this way of doing to other neighborhoods of the hand of the UPCT.This is to combine inclusion, social urbanism and environmental policies as pillars in the future of our society and, of course, the action of MC ".

Therefore, the municipal cartagenerista Group urged the implementation of a Comprehensive Action Plan (PAI) to match in neighborhoods and councils the necessary investment in infrastructure with regeneration measures, walking, together with the University of Cartagena, towards a social urbanism.

The proposal of MC advocates to begin the intervention in the most needy neighborhoods.

Among others, San Antón, Villalba, Virgen de la Caridad, José María de Lapuerta, Santa Lucía (neighborhood Santiago and Lo Campano) or El Bohío.

Jesús Giménez concluded by arguing that this line of action "has been fully demonstrated in the two years of MC Mayor's Office, and we regret that the current leaders are determined to stop it."

MAPS

It should be remembered that, during this year, the second phase of the project is being developed.

During the meeting, the developed projects were announced and will have to be included in a third phase through a master plan.

Previously, in the first phase, military spaces were identified for public use.

In the first two phases, and through the involvement of MC in its different areas of competence, MAPS has had the collaboration and supervision of the area of ​​Sustainable Development and the municipal society Casco Antiguo.

It also has the cooperation of the different entities that are part of the local MAPS group, such as CreeCT, Fénix Project, AFORCA, UPCT, Chamber of Commerce or Rascasa, among others.

Among the actions already carried out are cleaning and debris removal;

the planting of autochthonous species;

the conversion of a 'dump' in a public area for the use of neighbors or the adaptation of a park for children's activities.

Also, during this time, the Cartagena university has been developing a comprehensive action plan for the Castillo de los Moros.

The work of the MAPS has been recognized as exemplary in its development, since actions such as those described favor joint work for the future, inclusion and the identification of society with its reality.
