The City of Cartagena, through the Department of Social Services and with Proyecto Abraham, organized during the week of May 25 to 31 a program of activities on the occasion of the completion of the Community Project "Seguimos Caminando".

The mayor and head of the area of ​​Social Services, Ana Belén Castejón, closed on Thursday, May 31 this project, which has been carried out in Villalba with the Abraham Project.

The project began last December and its main objective is to invigorate the lives of the residents of the neighborhood.

This initiative, which has been carried out through the Gypsy Development Plan, financed by the Murciano Institute of Social Action, continues the actions carried out in the Villalba neighborhood since 2015.

Exhibitions, theater, crafts, activities for all ages were concentrated in the week of May 25 to 31, in collaboration with the Associations of Neighbors and Women that have played an important role in the realization of the project.

Training for young people and women has been continuous during these months, materializing at group level in workshops such as Villalba en Red, Taller de Cuero, Taller de Imagen y belleza, Upcycling Accessories, and at the individual level it has been accompanied by neighbors who have participated in the project, improving their personal, social and work skills.

The children of Villalba and their families have had a complete program of activities, both curricular support and leisure and free time.

The council recognized the work of those who have made this social transformation possible and gave the diplomas to the 30 children and 15 women who have received training in recent months.

The population of the neighborhood has actively participated in many of the events held in the city such as the International Day of the Gypsy People, the Carnival, Women's Day and recently in The Night of the Museums, with the artistic installation "El Rincón desconocido of Villalba. "
