The Association of Parkinson's patients of the region of Cartagena fulfills a function that corresponds to the Murcian Health Service, take care of the health of those affected by this terrible disease2E On the contrary, the Autonomous Community abandons them and leaves them without income necessary to be able to serve them with dignity.
CTSSP-PODEMOS, after his visit to the facilities occupied by the Parkinson's Disease Association, once again confirms the terrible conditions in which these patients find themselves.
For years they have shared a local with the AFAL Association of Alzheimer's patients.
A place loaned by the Autonomous Community but does not meet the minimum conditions to accommodate the sick of both groups, leading to situations "surreal" today, such as having to share the rehabilitation room and therapy the two groups, separating the spaces with a curtain, besides that they do not have windows or air conditioning.
But the situation of the Parkinson's Association is aggravated, because in less than a month they will have to leave the premises that had been given to him for years in the Casa del Mar, by the Treasury of the Social Security, where they carried out the rehabilitation and therapy with devices for this.
The agreement they signed with the Social Security forced him to maintain the room, and that maintenance has resulted in the payment of 300 euros per month, money that does not count2E In July, if they do not pay that amount they will be thrown out of the facilities of the House of the Sea, and without having an alternative place to be able to lodge its apparatuses.
The purple formation denounces the neglect and abandonment of these patients, as well as those of Alzheimer, because even having denounced this situation in the Municipal Plenary, since the socialist government has not yet produced any movement for social-health associations can count with a building in conditions.
CTSSP already denounced that the classrooms of the Antonio Arévalo School were not in conditions of habitability, and that in order to assign them to these associations, the City Council would have to carry out a rehabilitation project before its cession.
That is why they ask the municipal government to clarify the situation of the Colegio Antonio Arévalo, on its conditions of habitability, and to which collectives it plans to cede the space.
The representatives of the Parkinson Association informed the municipal group of Podemos, that the City Council had offered them the facilities of a nursery in the Polígono Cabezo Beaza, facilities that would not meet the needs of those affected, since the entire center was adapted to children small, even the toilets, so they had to reject the offer.
But they also denounce from the association, that this rejection can not be the excuse for not helping them in the critical situation they are living in today.
The lack of subsidies since 2016 to this Association, by the Autonomous Community, has also aggravated the situation of the group.
At present they only receive the subsidy from the City Council of € 9,700, which they also receive at the end of the year, or even after the year, as happened with the one in 2017, which they received in March of this year.
From CTSSP they are going to request that the City Council mediates with the Treasury of the Social Security, so that they continue to give free of charge the room of the Casa del Mar to the Parkinson Association, until they have a definitive location, such as the facilities of the Colegio Antonio Arévalo (provided that these are in conditions) or other municipal dependencies.
In addition, from the training purple will require the Municipal Government to investigate what happened with the subsidies withdrawn to the collective by the Autonomous Community.
For PODEMOS the municipal government can not turn a deaf ear to this demand and pressing need of the weakest people in our society, elderly and sick people who are literally abandoned by the public administration.
