The School of Industrial Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) has hosted this Saturday a free automotive fair and open all interested public, especially for young people who can perform robotics workshops, participate in the assembly from scratch of an electric vehicle and to see exposed racing single-seaters and a truck that has run in Le Mans.
Those attending the fair, which is held from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the former Marina Hospital, have also seen classic sports cars exposed, from a Ferrari to a Rolls Royce, passing through two vehicles of the Renault Scuderia.
There will also be technical presentations by experts in the automotive industry, such as a Jaguar engineer, a former student of the UPCT who belongs to the Automotive Technician Society or companies in the sector such as Turbokit.
"We include activities for younger children, so they can learn in a practical way about automotive, robotics, 3D printing or drones, even for engineering students and professionals," says Patricio Franco, director of the Industrial School.
The fair is held in parallel with the Formula Student Spanish National Workshop 2018, in which eight university teams that will participate this summer in the international competition in which engineering students put their knowledge to the test by designing, manufacturing, will share their progress. and preparing competition single-seaters.
The members of the UPCT Racing Team and the rest of the teams will be able to chat with judges of the competition and check the performance of their vehicles in the Cartagena Circuit, which they will attend on Sunday.
"This is the second time that this type of event has been organized throughout Spain, and it is very important to have been able to celebrate it on this occasion in Cartagena because the UPCT Industrial School has been named official organizer for these events by of the IMechE Iberia ", highlights Patricio Franco, director of the Industrial School.
The electric prototype that the smallest will be able to assemble during the fair belongs to the Greenpower competition, which through the UPCT and the Ministry of Education makes the Region of Murcia the second Spanish autonomous community in which students from 9 years They will be able to develop their own sustainable vehicles.
