The Local Government Board, meeting this afternoon, under the presidency of the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, has approved, among other matters, the proposal of the councilor of the Social Welfare and Sports Area, Obdulia Gómez, for the implementation of the Strategic Plan of Sports that will cover from 2018 to 2021.

As explained by the councilor with this Strategic Plan is intended to rethink the current activity of the service to ensure users more satisfactory management of municipal sports programs and facilities.

It also seeks to increase the number of people who perform physical activity, making social and economic benefits of municipal sports infrastructure;

and creating a new value chain that strengthens the Municipal Sports Service as a catalyst for the sports sector of the municipality and as a generator of economy linked to tourism and health.

The Strategic Plan will serve as a roadmap for the systematization of management, the reorganization of the entity and to achieve greater efficiency in providing service to the public through a model that allows to reformulate the strategies of the Department of Sports, incorporating three fundamental characteristics for the value of the service.

First, a model participated open to all stakeholders with a view to the inclusion of innovative and creative ideas

Second, a model that can be evaluated through indicators for each

objective.

And third, a transparent model that includes multi-year programs with specific objectives, resources and time estimation for their achievement, as well as the publication of the evaluation of the results.

Obdulia Gómez explained that the actions that will develop this Strategic Plan will be adaptable to an open schedule for the progressive achievement of the objectives and flexible in relation to the annual budgetary exercises corresponding to the Department of Sports.

Finally, he pointed out that this strategic plan, which includes the creation of an improvement team in which other municipal departments will participate, will be the previous step for the creation in the municipality of the Sports Observatory in Cartagena.
