This morning, the councilor of the MC Cartagena municipal group, María José Soler, has communicated the will of her training to seek the consensus of the Plenary so that the local government urges the regional executive to make it, through the Ministry of Health , determine the uninterrupted attention of patients in the Hemodynamics Unit of the Hospital of Santa Lucia.
In this way, the cartageneristas, through a motion that will be defended in the plenary of June 6, echo "complaints collected from relatives of patients who narrate their misadventures in Santa Lucia, with a situation that by repetitive It is surprising that the Hemodynamics unit of this hospital only treats strokes from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., thus condemning patients who suffer a heart attack outside these hours to a transfer. to the Virgen de la Arrixaca University Clinical Hospital, 50 kilometers away. "
Therefore, the situation becomes critical if some inhabitant of Cartagena and its area of influence have the misfortune to suffer a heart attack in a schedule that is not morning or midweek.
Soler recalled that "it is unacceptable that only a purely political decision is responsible for not being served 24 hours, since in the municipality we have the necessary means to do so".
To this fact, the mayor added, "the displacements of family members are added, by imperative, to the Arrixaca, with the expense involved, supporting, in addition, a situation of maximum uncertainty for not knowing the state in which the relative is infarcted, which is transferred in an ambulance, at full speed and in the opposite direction to his city ".
Later, María José Soler pointed out that "this scenario does not only happen with myocardial infarctions, but also with strokes or vascular accidents due to the obstruction of arteries by a thrombus, problems where reacting in time can make the difference between life and death. "
The MC councilor has criticized a circumstance that "is taking place for some years in the area of Health II, comprising Cartagena, Mazarrón, La Union and Fuente Alamo, municipalities that require this service and claim for it. and interrupted is an irrevocable issue. "
Soler concluded by stating that "the patients of these municipalities deserve the same rights in terms of their hospital care as other areas of the Region, since the means exist".
"The life of a citizen of this area is worth the same as that of a neighbor of the municipality of Murcia," he has sentenced.
