The festival Much More May hosts on May 30 and 31 an educational, artistic and cultural project, inspired by the goal of underwater life and the dissemination, inclusion and visibility of the group affected by the TEA (Autism Spectrum Disorder).
Under the name 'Art, Sea, Life', Miguel Gallardo, award-winning illustrator and graphic novelist, who has been awarded the 2008 National Comic Award, will be present in various activities that day.
The author will work from the story of his autistic daughter, Maria, who stars in some of his most extraordinary works.
He is one of the most special guests of the festival and his participation in this event includes the talk that will take place tomorrow at the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center after the screening of the film 'María y yo', this Wednesday, May 30, at 19 : 30 hours, followed by a talk with the author.
Admission is free until full capacity is reached.
The documentary is an adaptation to the cinema of the graphic novel of the same name "María y yo", by Gallardo himself.
MARÃA Y YO is a travel notebook in which they have been writing down one by one, as in one of the lists that Maria likes to do, all things, big and small, that fill the Gallardo's daily life on vacation , its peculiar way of communicating, the reactions of people with Mary, the problems of coexistence that sometimes poses the condition of the girl between them and with the rest of a world that is not always prepared, not even willing, to be generous with the exceptions to the general idea of normality.
And also the small rewards that go along with both during all that journey.
Always from the direct perspective, human and not without the humor of a father who has no qualms about showing himself and Mary as they are, MARÃA Y YO is not a full-length documentary about autism, but the story of a relationship of affection between two people, a father and a daughter;
and therefore, a totally subjective and personal approach to the events, problems and satisfactions that occur in the daily life of these two characters.
The screening will feature the presence of Miguel Gallardo, star of the film and author of the graphic novel on which it is based
On Thursday, May 31, in the morning, Miguel Gallardo will give a series of workshops and teaching activities at the IES El Bohío, aimed at specific students.
That afternoon will be a workshop "Drawing for Mary" by Gallardo at the Muram, aimed at parents, mothers, therapists and teachers of children or people with autism.
The capacity will be limited to 20 people.
