Much + May blooms in the center of Cartagena (25/05/2018)

The mayor Ana Belén Castejón has traveled this morning the first creations of the festival Mucho + Mayo that have been installed in the streets of the city center.

Following the guidelines set by the festival management, which this year has the motto 'Interdependent, ecodependent', most of the works have as a thread the environmental sustainability.

"This is the first eco-festival in Cartagena and the proof is that most of the facilities we have seen today have a common denominator: the environment and our relationship with the natural environment.

Much + May is a bet of the Department of Culture, but it collaborates up to 11 municipal areas and we are very proud to have recovered this event, "said the mayor.

The first of the installations he has visited has been 'Go full of Plastic', prepared by the artist Belén Orta, based on an event that recently occurred on our coasts and that gives meaning to the phrase "reality always surpasses fiction".

In the Plaza del Icue, Ignacio Abad and Hayat Nuraydin, have created an exhibition space to observe, question and imagine a city that welcomes and offers opportunities for play and appropriation to children in 'Urban Gallery of the city of children'.

The next stop was 'Desarrasa', a proposal from the Ameba team that invites everyone to reflect on the impact we generate in our environment.

The slope of the Molinete hosts' Microperiferias.

The city in the flesh 'of Estudio NONAME, which reconstructs the identity elements of this authentic Cartagena neighborhood, thus recovering the collective memory.

Already in the Plaza San Sebastian Cristina Navarro Poulin and the students of the pottery workshop of the Popular University have recreated the current state of the Mar Menor with an ecosystem degraded by the action of man and full of polluting elements in an urban facility that bears the name 'Do we want this Mar Menor?'

Finally, on Cuatro Santos street, the NO + MUSAS collective has launched an action called 'Herbarium, Botanical Women', in which the public is invited to participate and which explores the claims of the collective of artists for the claim and social recognition of the contributions of women to the history of science and the development of modern society.
