Professors of the Faculty of Business Sciences of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) study the economic and sociocultural impact of the bands associated with the Federation of Music Bands of the Region of Murcia (FBMRM).
The objective of the study, coordinated by the professor of the area of ​​Quantitative Methods for the Economy of the Company, Juan Jesús Bernal, is to identify the repercussion that the bands of music of the Federation have on the march of the economy, the society and the culture of the Region of Murcia.
The first results highlight the "broad and important contribution" of the bands of the FBMRM, according to the professor.
First, "they play an important role in the development of people, in their cultural and personal," he says.
Second, "his contribution to local culture, parties and events is ubiquitous throughout the year."
In third place, "they suppose an important historical and cultural heritage, tangible and intangible, in the populations that have bands, other bordering, and in the whole of the Region of Murcia," he adds.
The members of the Music Bands, members of the Federation, and the whole of the local population associated with the more than 40 municipalities where interviews have been conducted, unanimously underline the need to have a declaration of Cultural Interest for such activities cultural-musical in the next Law of Music of the Region of Murcia that is currently in parliamentary procedure.
Bernal points out that one of the main objectives of the study carried out by the UPCT professors is to make visible and value the educational, cultural, socializing and professional projection work carried out by the bands and the regional federation itself.
Researchers are studying in greater depth the work done by the bands in the promotion of the individual, their personal abilities, and their social integration, their contribution to local and regional culture and socio-cultural heritage, their ability to generate impact economic local and regional and in general its role as 'non-profit associations' that provide a means of life-long training for its members.
The researchers are conducting surveys of the components and directors of the bands themselves and the local population of the 40 municipalities in the region where they are located.
It is also counting on the support of the Town Halls and Institutions related to the bands of the FBMRM, adds Ginesa Zamora Saura, president of the Federation of Music Bands of the Region of Murcia.
