The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón has received the cyclist José Uribe after completing the Double Everesting Galeras on May 19 and 20, in which he has made a total of 106 ascents, in 18,000 vertical meters during 48 hours.
The Everesting concept was created in 2014 by the Australian Andy Van Vergen and consists in climbing in a single activity a cumulative difference equal to or equal to the altitude of Everest, which is 8,848 meters.
The challenge that Uribe has faced is the Double Everesting Galeras, for which he has overcome a vertical ascent of twice the height of Everest.
During the hours that have lasted the rest, Uribe has been able to stop in all the occasions that it has needed, although it has only been able to sleep two hours.
The cyclist, who has been accompanied by friends, family and cycling clubs, has met with the mayor and has narrated some of the most outstanding anecdotes he has experienced during his career as an athlete.
Ana Belén Castejón has delivered a canvas in which the athlete appears and in which the distance traveled can be read, as well as the number of climbs made, the vertical meters and the time it took to do so, with the aim of reward your effort by completing this challenge and surpassing yourself.
