MC Cartagena, through the spokesman of the municipal group, José López, the ediles Ricardo Segado, María José Soler and Francisco Calderón, and the president of the Cartagena training, Jesús Giménez, visited this morning the emblematic building of the Graduate Schools.

There, the representatives of MC have held a meeting with the heads of the Association Graduate Schools of Cartagena, Benito García and José Antonio de las Heras, to let them know the amendment to the budgets, presented by this municipal group, and that was approved to proceed with the adaptation of this building of 1903.

Immediately, and after this morning's visit, MC Cartagena will ask the municipal government to charge the maintenance of the municipal buildings, to proceed to the arrangement of the stairs, which show the detachment of the marble, and they are currently out of use with the consequent damage to the use, aesthetics and safety of the building.

The amendment contemplates the adaptation of the Graduate Schools, through an action of the cover and the reorganization of the interior rooms, to turn it into a musealized space of the history of teaching and writing in Cartagena.

Similarly, the proposal, approved at the last extraordinary session of the municipal budgets, has a multi-year endowment of 300,000 euros (100,000 in 2018 and 200,000 in 2019).

Its purpose is to prepare the building so that it can house the teaching museum and improve Gisbert Street, reorganizing the pivots that cause so much inconvenience to neighbors and bystanders, and get it to resemble its appearance on the road of the port where it ends, turning it into another penetration route of the cruise passengers to the center of the city, in an axis that forms with the Basilica of Charity and the Artillery Park that could be an essential visit for Cartagena and visitors.

Next initiative

In the same way, MC will transfer an initiative to the next municipal Plenary so that the recognition of the figure of one of the promoters of the Graduate Schools, Francisco Martínez Muñoz, whose bust is in a room surrounded by a box and bags, very far away, will be dignified. of the space it deserves.

This initiative will be complemented by requesting another bust dedicated to Felix Martí Alpera, the other driver for the creation of the Graduates in Cartagena, both occupying a privileged place at the entrance of the building in just homage to the career of both illustrious educators They made the Cartagena of the early twentieth century an international reference in education.
