The Festival Much More May, organized by the Department of Culture of the City of Cartagena, has arranged in collaboration with the Southeast Naturalist Association (ANSE) and Cartagena Port of Cultures, a total of 30 seats free on the tourist boat to participate in the cleaning of the coast of the Fort of Christmas, activity that will take place this Saturday May 26.
With this initiative, Cartagena Puerto de Culturas adds its boat to work environmental awareness for an activity of general interest to the public.
The places will be covered by strict order of registration.
Those interested in participating in this cleaning must register in advance at muchomasmayo@ayto-cartagena.es and the scheduled departure time is at 9:30 am, while the return will be at 12:15.
TRASH REMOVAL IN CABO TIÑOSO WITH DOLPHIN VIEWING
Volunteers from ANSE and the program Much More May, on Sunday, May 20, in Cabo Tiñoso, they removed fifteen large bags containing more than 500 fragments and plastic bottles, 30 fragments of dropper tubes, more than 300 bottle caps. of plastic, boat moorings, 30 shoes, glass bottles, cans, plastic cups and plates, food containers, plastic and polystyrene boxes, etc.
The activity is part of the actions of the Much More May Program and the Libera Project, promoted by SEO-Birdlife and Ecoembes, which also collaborates with ANSE in a study of floating garbage in the Special Conservation Zone Submarine Valleys of Escarpe de Mazarrón , one of the most extensive protected areas for bottlenose dolphins and loggerhead turtles of the Spanish coast, which extends between Eastern Cabo de Palos and Águilas.
During the navigation, the participants had the chance to see in front of the Portús beach a group of more than 20 bottlenose dolphins, which were fed in bottoms of 50 meters deep, and that accompanied the ANSE sailboat during part of the navigation .
