One of the works of Spanish music par excellence, El Amor Brujo by Manuel de Falla, lands at the Nuevo Teatro Circo, at the hands of the Youth Orchestra of Cartagena on Saturday, May 26, at 8:00 p.m.
The mayor of Culture, Education and Youth, David Martinez and the president of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Cartagena, Álvaro Valdesueiro, have offered all the details of the concert.
In this version of the work, the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Cartagena under the subtitle 'Gitanería en dos Cuadros' will interpret the original version of the work.
It is a composite version for reduced orchestra, which will only put on stage two performers: the cantaora Ana Mochón, in the role of Candelas and the actor Antonio García to play the character of Carmelo.
In addition, to complete the staging of this ballet, the public can enjoy the performance of the dancer Mercedes Carrillo.
Amor Brujo is a work that was born 103 years ago, not without controversy because its premiere in Madrid had to be withdrawn and the author ended up changing it.
The work, with a marked Andalusian character, tells the story of a gypsy girl whose love is tormented by her former lover.
As Álvaro Valdesueiro has said, we are dealing with a work that deals with the anti-romantic version of the relationship between love and death, which fights for the liberation of the soul through the liberation of the body through flamenco dancing and cante jondo.
With regard to the text, the mayor of Culture, David Martinez, has pointed out the importance of making known that the booklet, contrary to what was believed, was not written Gregorio Martínez Sierra, but was his wife, María de la O Lejárraga, the author of it.
El amor Brujo, which questions the borders between cultured music and popular music, will be performed by the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Cartagena, under the baton of the Director Álvaro Pintado.
Tickets can already be purchased at the New Theater Circus box office or online, here.
