The Teatro Apolo Circo El Algar has organized for the third consecutive year its National Theater Competition that will bring to the municipality the performances of the works La Lazarillo de Tormes, El Eunuco and 100 m² (the inconvenience) the next 2, 8 and 9 June to 9:30 p.m.
The presentation was made by the mayor of the Culture, Education and Youth area, David Martínez Noguera;
and of the representative of the Cultural Association Teatro Circo Apolo, Mercedes García.
The councilor has highlighted the incomparable setting in which is the Teatro Circo Apolo El Algar, a modernist building, "of great beauty" that was reformed last year thanks to grants from the City of Cartagena and the autonomous community of the Region of Murcia.
He also highlighted the national character that the contest is acquiring as they are passing editions, as this year have received theatrical proposals from the Region of Murcia, the province of Alicante, the Community of Madrid, the province of Burgos, Seville, Granada, León, Zaragoza, Cádiz and Toledo.
The Lazarillo de Tormes will come to the emblematic theater on Saturday, June 2, with the company El Duende de Lerma;
while the Eunuco shift will arrive on Friday, June 8, in charge of the company Taules Teatre;
and on Saturday, June 9, 100 m² (the inconvenience), which will represent the Five Senses Company.
The individual price of tickets is 8 euros, although the organization has made available to fans a bonus for the three performances worth 18 euros.
Tickets can be purchased through the website of ticketea or on Wednesdays from 18 to 20 hours at the theater box office.
Mercedes Garcia has informed that on Saturday, June 16 will be the closing ceremony and awards ceremony, whose entry will be free under invitations, which may be withdrawn on Wednesdays at the theater box office and during the days of the contest.
He also indicated that the first prize will be worth 800 euros plus trophy, while the second will be 500 euros plus trophy and the third 200 euros plus trophy.
For his part, the councilman has expressed that as a novelty for this year, a special prize will be awarded to the public, which will consist of a statuette of Isidoro Máiquez, to mark the 250th anniversary of his birth, which will help the actors, who they come from outside of Cartagena, "know their importance at the national level and the innovations introduced in the theater," he added.
The jury of this edition will be chaired by the mayor of Culture, David Martínez Noguera;
who will be accompanied by the professor of the Superior School of Dramatic Art of Murcia (ESAD), Sonia Murcia;
and the actress of the Teatro Apolo company and member of the PAECC, Celi Dieste.
