The Secretary of Municipal Policy Alfonso Martínez Baños considers inadmissible ADIF plans for the arrival of the AVE to Cartagena and demands that no more decisions be made outside the interest of the Region
The Municipal Policy Secretary of the PSRM-PSOE and parliamentary deputy speaker Alfonso Martinez Baños claims the PP candidate to the Mayor of Cartagena Noelia Arroyo to give explanations to the Cartagena "if the Popular Party will remain a vassal of ADIF."
For Martinez Baños it is "inadmissible" that the AVE arrives in Cartagena on the surface by the end of 2022, which would mortgage the future of the city or have to wait four more years for it to come underground, as ADIF yesterday announced to the City Council. Cartagena
The High Speed Technical Commission held a meeting yesterday in which it announced plans and options for the arrival of High Speed to the departmental city.
Martinez Baños agrees with the approach of the mayor of Cartagena Ana Belén Castejón that the alternatives proposed by ADIF are not what Cartagena needs, on the contrary, they punish the city and have been taken without consulting.
"To the nonexistent commuter service that the municipality suffers and to some old and third-world trains is added an ADIF project that harms and mistreats Cartagena, the second city with the greatest population and importance of the Region".
From the Socialist Party "we will not allow it, ADIF has to assume that it can not make decisions without having the interests of the Region of Murcia."
The socialist leader added that "fortunately the long cycle of PP government in the region will end in June 2019, which will enable the AVE arrives buried in Cartagena and before 2022."
