The City of Cartagena, through the Department of Municipal Services, and in collaboration with the European Environment Association, has organized the first days of awareness for the selection and collection of waste, which aims to promote respect and care for the environment natural among students of Infant and Primary.
"Our intention when launching a campaign like this is to educate children about the problem of global dimensions that have become marine litter and teach them to be more careful with the environment in which we live.
Because educating them from children will become responsible adults with the environment, "said the mayor of Municipal Services, Juan Pedro Torralba.
The first centers to join this initiative have been the Mediterranean School of La Manga and the Puig Campillo of Isla Plana.
Thus, on May 14 and 15 about 70 students from 3rd to 6th grade will attend these days, which includes both theory and practice and will start at 10.30 am.
The theoretical part will consist of a talk of an approximate hour of duration supported by audiovisual media, its objective is that the student participates, interacts and learns the different types of waste and its effects on the marine environment and the natural environment.
As for the practical part, it will be carried out at the beaches of Las Amoladeras in Cabo de Palos and Isla Plana beach and in it the young participants will collect, select and learn to deposit the different waste for later recycling.
On the beaches, there will be the support of the Litoral brigades that, using light vehicles, will transport the waste bags to their corresponding containers.
